The fourth of July is a day to celebrate our history, our heritage, and
our inalienable right to create as many dubiously crafted, low tech
films as we damn well please. In this spirit, the Ten Second Film
Festival is back for a fifth summer. The festival, which drew 3000
eager movie-goers last year, is an event for both the amateur and
immature; the talented and the unfortunate; the virtuoso and the
accidental artist. Whether you’re a film connoisseur or a recreational
viewer your film likely has a place in the lineup.
For this Podcast we spoke with Katherine Rochester, the curator of the Ten Second Film Festival, about the history of the festival and what to look forward to at the event. |

Curated by Jayme McLellan of Civilian Art Projects in Washington, DC, Frontier Preachers
developed out of a desire to investigate a frontier anew, long after
the heyday of the river as central artery in the heart of America. This
new frontier, as told through eleven emerging and established artists
from New Orleans, explores a changed landscape and recognizes that the
opportunities of the past may indeed have limits.
As part of our series of podcasts, we spoke with the artists and curator of Frontier Preachers. For this podcast we spoke with McLellan about the origins and themes of the show. |
